Family Rift Deepens — Christine Brown Reveals Mykelti’s Move to Escape Tension With Kody Brown
“Sister Wives” star Christine Brown has claimed that her 29-year-old daughter, Mykelti, is ditching Utah and moving to North Carolina to get away from the ongoing drama surrounding dad Kody Brown‘s split from his plural wives.
Christine, 53, explained during the latest episode of the family’s hit reality series that Mykelti had tried “so hard to get everybody back together again” after she and Kody—who were never legally married—ended their so-called marriage in 2021.
According to the mother of six, Mykelti’s relationship with her father, Kody, has never been the same, hinting that her daughter was struggling with feelings of “frustration and anger and resentment” in relation to her dad.
“Mykelti tried so hard to get the whole family back together again. She really wanted to.”
Viewers were then shown a flashback clip in which Christine, Kody, and his only remaining wife, Robyn, listened to Mykelti as she opened up about her desire to keep their family together in the wake of her parents’ split.
The heart-wrenching scene took place the night before Christine left the family’s former home in Flagstaff, AZ, and moved to Utah following her separation from Kody.
Christine acknowledged that, publicly, Mykelti has insisted that her relocation from Utah to Charlotte, NC, was motivated by a desire to support her husband, Tony, and his chess career, but said she believes there are more emotional factors at play, particularly where her daughter’s relationship with Kody is concerned.
“There’s a lot of her feelings and frustration and anger and resentment,” the mom said.
However, Kody seemingly hit back at any suggestion that he is to blame for his daughter’s move, claiming that any resentment that may have built up between him and his older children has come as a result of “trash talk.”
However, after Christine ended her “spiritual marriage” to Kody in 2021, his other romances began to unravel, with his other “spiritual” wives, Meri and Janelle, both choosing to walk away from their relationships in 2022, leaving him with Robyn, the only woman to whom he has ever been legally wed.
Still, the drama among the foursome raged on long after they ended their romantic entanglements, particularly as they still shared ownership of the piece of land, known as Coyote Pass, where they had planned to build their compound.
Kody, who shot to fame while documenting his life with his multiple “wives” in the hit TLC series, and his only remaining wife, Robyn, had gone in on the property purchase with the reality star’s three other partners—Christine, Janelle, and Meri—in 2018 while they were all still together.
However, after Kody’s so-called marriages to the three other women began to crumble, questions were raised over the future of the Arizona land, which they bought for $820,000.
Originally, the group had intended to divvy up the land, which is near Kody’s former home in Flagstaff, and then use it to build four homes—one for each of his then-wives and their respective children.
In a previous episode of “Sister Wives,” which aired before the foursome’s recent sale of the land, Kody shared his side of the story, opening up about why he was reluctant to sell the property even after Meri and Janelle left their polygamous relationship.
“I want to sell Coyote Pass, but I don’t think Robyn’s in the space where she wants to sell it. I’m not rushing Robyn for the sake of Meri and Janelle,” he explained.
Meanwhile, Christine offered some words of advice to Kody’s other exes: “Janelle and Meri need to be smart, and I hope that they split up 14 acres four ways. … But I know Kody. Financial stuff with him sucks.”
“No matter what Janelle says about me ripping you off, that’s all imagined in Janelle’s head because Janelle feels like, ‘Oh, I got divorced so I deserve something,'” he added.
Janelle has long been critical about Kody’s financial practices, specifically when it comes to selling the land.
“We’re finally paying off this dang property in Flagstaff, but now there’s this big fight about how do we divide it?” she previously told viewers. “I don’t know what to expect from Kody. He’s been kind of an a– about the property, so he might be an a– about it as we move forward. Who knows?”
