An Emotional Confession — Meri Brown Says She Felt Something Was Wrong Amid Infertility Battle

Sister Wives star Meri Brown opened up about experiencing infertility during her marriage to Kody Brown, admitting she felt “something was wrong” with her while her sister wives — Janelle Brown and Christine Brown — welcomed children.

“There were definitely times in my life that I didn’t feel like anything that I could do was right,” Meri, 55, said during the Sunday, January 25, “One-on-One” episode of their TLC series. “Like, I couldn’t even have a baby.”

Meri gave birth to her only child, Leon, in 1995, explaining, “Then I couldn’t have anymore.”

“I don’t think that any of them thought I was wrong, necessarily, for having feelings and emotions,” she added of Janelle, Christine and Kody’s current wife, Robyn Brown. “But I don’t know how empathetic they were with it.”

In addition to Leon, Kody, 57, shares six children with Janelle, 56, six children with Christine, 53, and five children with Robyn, 47.

Meri, who was Kody’s first wife, announced her split from the polygamous patriarch in January 2023.

“I was granted what is called in our church a release, which is basically the equivalent of a divorce,” she said in an October 2024 confessional. “It was a very, very hard conversation, hard in meaning heartbreaking because this is not what I wanted to do. This is not what I intended when I married Kody.”
