HE HAD NO CLUE! 🍼🚨 Liz Johnston Reveals The “Surprising” Way Trent Found Out About Baby No. 2. It wasn’t what he expected!
The Johnston family is growing again, and while fans are buzzing over the news, it’s the story of how Trent Johnston (aka “Bapa”) found out that is stealing the show!
In a recent candid interview, Liz Johnston opened up about her second pregnancy, sharing that this time around has been far from a “breeze.” Currently 16 and a half weeks along, Liz revealed she’s been battling intense nausea and “all the stuff” she luckily avoided with her firstborn, Layton. But despite the morning sickness, the excitement is at an all-time high—especially after the hilarious way she broke the news to her parents.
A Bathroom Surprise! 🚽✨
Liz didn’t opt for a fancy dinner or a staged photoshoot to announce Baby No. 2. Instead, she let little Layton do the honors at her parents’ house back in January.
“Bryce had a pregnancy test and I was like, ‘Just hand it to Layton and let her walk in,'” Liz shared. While her mom, Amber, saw it in the kitchen and immediately screamed, “I knew it!”, her dad was a different story.
Trent was actually in the restroom when the toddler wandered in and handed him the life-changing plastic stick!
“My dad found out on the spoiler… his reaction was priceless,” Liz laughed. “He was like, ‘If it’s blue, does that mean it’s a boy?’ and I’m like, ‘Oh my god, Dad, there’s no way to know that early!'”
A Meaningful Due Date
The new addition is expected early this fall, and the timing couldn’t be more sentimental. Liz revealed that her scheduled C-section is set for September 1st—which happens to be her late grandfather’s birthday (Poppy).
While Liz and Bryce already know the sex of the baby, they are keeping it a total secret from the rest of the family and the world until the birth, just as they did with Layton.
Family Dynamics & The “Anna” Situation
Despite the joy of the new baby and her recent wedding (which she teases was “not picture perfect” due to tsunami-level rainstorms!), Liz didn’t shy away from the tougher topics. She confirmed that she and her sister Anna are currently not on speaking terms.
“Communication, it’s ultimately, you know, we’re on our different paths,” Liz explained, adding that the family is navigating life in their own ways. “Hopefully one day our paths will come back together and things will be mended.”
For now, the focus is on “Family of Four” life. With Layton already practicing her big sister skills with baby dolls and rooting for a “baby brother,” the upcoming season of 7 Little Johnstons is shaping up to be the most “authentic and happy” one yet.
