MORTGAGE MONSTER: Sister Wives’ Meri Brown’s Desperate Bid for Survival With a Third $485k Loan on a B&B Still Lost to Renovations!

SISTER Wives star Meri Brown has taken out a third loan on her Utah bed and breakfast Lizzie’s Heritage Inn.
Meri, 53, temporarily shut down her beloved bed and breakfast in August 2024 for renovations.
We can exclusively reveal Meri has taken out a third loan in the amount of $485,000 amid the remodel.
Meri is listed as the borrower for the property, while Newrez LLC, a mortgage lender company, is listed as the lender.
The document dated December 23, 2024, reads, “The note evidences the legal obligation of each borrower who signed the note to pay lender $485,000 plus interest.
“Each Borrower who signed the Note has promised to pay this debt in regular monthly payments and to pay the debt in full no later than January 1, 2055.”

The court papers read, “This second home rider is incorporated into and shall be deemed to amend and supplement the Mortgage, Deed of Trust, or Security Deed of the same date given by the undersigned borrower.
“Borrower shall occupy, and shall only use, the property as borrower’s second home.”
The terms continued, “Borrower shall keep the property available for borrower’s exclusive use and enjoyment at all times, and shall not subject the property to any timesharing or other shared ownership arrangement or to any rental pool or agreement that requires borrower to either rent the property or give a management firm or any other person any control over the occupancy or use of the property.”
At this time, Meri lived in Flagstaff, Arizona with her former husband, Kody, 55, and sister wives Janelle, Christine and Robyn Brown.
MERI’S INN
On Sister Wives, Meri asked the family for a $40,000 loan for the home, while she agreed to pay the remaining $40,000 for the down payment.
While second wife Janelle, 55, third wife Christine, 52, and fourth wife Robyn, 46, were supportive of the idea, Kody, was hesitant because bed and breakfasts are “not big moneymakers.”
He asked, “Because we’re going to be investors in that business, we’re going to be the board of directors on it and we get to tell you how to run it?”
Meri shot back, “No, not at all.”
She added in her confessional, “This is my baby. They don’t care about the house or the bed and breakfast business. I want to run my own business my way.”
Kody ultimately did not lend her the $40,000.
Meri was able to earn the money on her own through her clothing business LuLaRoe.
Meri opened her inn in December 2017.
The bed and breakfast was named after Meri’s grandmother Lizzie, who lived in the historic home.
The Sister Wives star’s late mother, Bonnie, helped run the business while Meri lived in Arizona with her family until her passing in 2021.
After years of marital issues, Meri finally confirmed her official split from Kody in January 2023.
She now lives in the Utah bed and breakfast.
In August, Meri revealed she is temporarily closing the inn while the property undergoes renovations.
She captioned a series of photos of the inn, “Time to say goodbye… If only for a moment… This beautiful 154 year old home is in need of some tlc and needs some renovation, so I’ve made the decision to shut down the b&b for regular visits.
“At this point, I don’t know how long it will be closed, I suppose that all depends on what ends up happening as we go through the process!
“We will still have special events where you can come see the home, so be sure to pay attention to the website for that info!
“But for now, enjoy these photos of what ‘was’ and look forward with me to what will be! I’ve got some fun and exciting things planned for these spaces! The next little while will be filled with fun and anticipation, and I’m excited for what’s to come!”
