Surprise! Counting On alum Abbie Duggar and her husband John David Duggar have quietly welcomed their third child, a baby boy, and fans are thrilled by the unexpected news!
The proud parents shared the joyful update on Saturday, October 1, with Abbie, 30, posting a sweet photo of their new bundle of joy to Instagram alongside the caption:
“We are now a family of four! We welcomed little Charlie into the world last month and have been soaking up newborn snuggles ever since. We are so thankful to God for this precious gift.”
Baby Charlie joins big sister Grace Annette, who was born in July 2020. The couple first announced they were expecting baby #2 with a heartfelt Mother’s Day post back in May, where Abbie showed off her baby bump while holding hands with Grace.
“To the little girl who calls me Mommy and our little boy due in late summer—I’ll love you forever,” they wrote at the time.
While the couple remained vague about the due date, fans later learned their son was expected around September 8, according to a baby registry spotted on RegistryFinder.com.
Longtime Duggar fans had been speculating for months. Clues like Abbie’s private Pinterest board titled “Pink or Blue” stirred rumors, especially since her mother Cheryl Burnett had been following it. Shortly before Charlie’s arrival, Abbie was celebrated at a baby shower on August 13, attended by close family and friends.
“So fun celebrating you and baby boy today! Love you tons,” wrote friend Esther Bates of Bringing Up Bates.
“Love getting to celebrate baby today,” added sister-in-law Jill Dillard (née Duggar) via Instagram Stories.
Charlie is the 25th grandchild of Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar, arriving just months after Jill Duggar welcomed her third son, Freddy, on July 7 with husband Derick Dillard.
Though John David and Abbie tend to stay out of the spotlight compared to some of their siblings, fans were quick to flood the couple’s social media with congratulations and warm wishes, thrilled by the surprise reveal.
“Such a beautiful family!” one fan commented.
“Congrats on baby #3 – can’t wait to see more photos of little Charlie!” another wrote.
As for whether baby Charlie is the final addition or if more Duggar babies are on the horizon, only time will tell!
