It Wasn’t What We Were Told” — Lydia Plath Reveals the Real Story Behind Her Brother’s Death
Lydia Plath Shares New Details About Family Tragedy
Lydia Plath, a star from the reality series Welcome to Plathville, recently opened up about a devastating family loss that occurred years ago. During an appearance on Jinger and Jeremy Vuolo’s podcast alongside her husband, Zac Wyse, Lydia revealed new details about the tragic death of her younger brother, Joshua Plath.
The conversation began when Zac described his family as being very open and “emotionally inclined,” a stark contrast to how Lydia grew up. Lydia explained that her family’s lack of communication stemmed from the tragic farming accident in 2008 that claimed the life of her 17-month-old brother, Joshua.
According to Lydia, the accident was so difficult for her mother, Kim Plath, that the family was unable to talk about it.
“Because it affected her so much, we couldn’t talk about it,” Lydia shared. “So, like the deepest hardest thing that happened in our childhood, we couldn’t talk about around her.”
This inability to discuss the most profound loss of their lives led to a general pattern of avoiding deep conversations within the family.
The Burden of a Young Mother
During the podcast, Lydia also spoke about the heavy burden she carried after her mother left the family. At just 17 years old, Lydia took on the role of a substitute mother to her younger siblings while still attending school and working. She described this time as simply trying to “survive,” not thrive.
A Positive Influence
Fans and viewers have been supportive of Lydia’s newfound openness, noting a significant change in her since her marriage to Zac. On social media, many fans expressed relief that Lydia finally has the space to process her emotions. They believe that Zac, who comes from an emotionally expressive family, has had a positive effect on her.
Comments from fans suggest that Lydia is now able to “breathe and not look after a whole family.” They feel that she is beginning to “blossom” into who she is meant to be, thanks to Zac’s encouragement and the healthy dynamic of his family.
“She no longer has to carry all that weight on her shoulders,” one fan wrote, “and can blossom into who she wants to be.”
This public sharing marks a new chapter for Lydia, one where she appears to be embracing emotional healing and healthier communication with the support of her husband.
