1000-Lb. Sisters stars Tammy and Amy Slaton’s cousin Katie has died at just 37, The U.S. Sun can confirm.
Tammy and Amy‘s sister Amanda Halterman announced the tragic news on Instagram Tuesday morning “with a completely crushed heart and spirit,” she said.
“My little cousin went to sit at the feet of Jesus yesterday,” Amanda captioned a photo of herself with Katie.
“She was a force to be reckoned with and showed love that was accepting and given freely. She was the life of the part[y] and my best friend.”
Tammy, 39, and Amy, 37, have not yet publicly responded to the family tragedy, though they showed support for Katie in the past.
Katie appeared on various episodes of the family’s hit TLC show 1000-Lb. Sisters, including when Tammy was released from rehab in Season 5.

She leaves behind her longtime girlfriend, Natalie Gerrick Bailie, and the couple were based in the Slaton family’s native Kentucky.
“Both our families have been so great throughout this whole process. We could not get through this without you! Thank you everyone for the thoughts and prayers! #Katiestrong“
Sadly, Katie’s illness took a turn for the worse in recent days, and Amanda asked family, friends and fans for prayers.
“Please whisper a prayer for our family as we continue to support Katie Slaton, I am so thankful to be allowed to stand by your side,” she wrote on August 25.
TAMMY’S CRUSHING LOSS
The Slaton family was previously struck by tragedy when Tammy lost her husband, Caleb Willingham, in July 2023. He was just 40 years old.
Tammy had quietly separated from Caleb just two months before his death.
“Rest in peace, sweet angel. You will forever be missed and loved so much,” Tammy broke her silence and said just hours after the announcement of his death.
“Thank you, Caleb, for showing me real love and happiness.”
Caleb’s cause of death was complications of morbid obesity, his autopsy stated.
Tammy and Caleb had met in a weight loss rehab clinic in 2022.
While Tammy lost hundreds of pounds, Caleb struggled with his health.
Today, Tammy is a whopping 500 pounds thinner and is engaged to Andrea Dalton.
