‘Days Of Our Lives’ Shocker: AlexAnn Hopkins (Joy) Leaves, Robert Scott Wilson (Alex) Expresses Heartfelt Regret

‘Days Of Our Lives’ (DOOL) spoilers confirm that fans have seen the last of Joy Wesley (AlexAnn Hopkins), at least for now.

‘Days Of Our Lives’ Spoilers: Joy Was In Salem To Land A Part On Body And Soul

A Days spokesperson told TV Insider, “We enjoyed having AlexAnn bring the character to life; it was a short yet important story arc, and we hope the fans enjoyed watching it unfold.”

Joy had never really found her footing in Salem, that is, until she hooked up with Alex. Joy’s mom, Nancy Wesley (Patrika Darbo), convinced Joy to move to Salem to land a part on the soap-within-a-soap, Body, and Soul, but the production has since moved to Los Angeles.

In truth, Joy was initially brought to the show to be the spoiler in Johnny DiMera (Carson Boatman) and Chanel DiMera’s marriage, which ended in disaster for Joy.

Afterward, Joy and Alex started spending time together and ended up sleeping together until Alex realized he was still in love with Stephanie Johnson (Abigail Klein).

Shortly after Joy and Alex called it quits, she discovered she was pregnant with Alex’s baby. Stephanie found out she had a pregnancy test taken at the hospital (odd, she didn’t choose her bathroom at home), and Joy lied and said that she wasn’t pregnant.

Joy scored a job at Titan and worked hard enough to impress Philip Kiriakis (John Paul Lavoisier). Still, curiously, no sooner than Phillip sang her praises, Joy decided to quit her job and move back to New York…. without informing Alex she was expecting his child.

There was plenty of room for much more drama between Joy, Alex, and Stephanie, but the soap opted to have Joy run off to the Big Apple with this juicy secret, with the story possibly continuing at a later date.

‘Days Of Our Lives’ Spoilers: Robert Scott Wilson Sings AlexAnn Hopkin’s Praises

AlexAnn’s leading man, Robert Scott Wilson, who plays Alex Kiriakis, recently spoke with Soap Opera Digest and expressed how he feels about her exit.

Wilson told SOD that he was sorry to see Hopkins leave.

“She was fantastic. She is fantastic,”

He exclaimed.

“I’m sure they’ll revisit that story sooner or later.”

He said he was surprised that the actress was written out since the storyline was heating up.

“I don’t know all the ins and outs,”

Said Wilson regarding Hopkins’s departure.

“We didn’t really dig into it personally that much, but AlexAnn is part of the fabric here, and there’s a whole lot of story left to be told. So I’m sure they’ll do something with her and myself in the future at some point down the line,”

He surmised.

Wilson admitted that he’ll miss working with Hopkins.

“I liked the spontaneity of our scenes together,”

He revealed. AlexAnn also fit the role beautifully.

Wilson acknowledged that the casting director, Marnie Saitta, was the one who found AlexAnn to play Joy. It was no surprise that AlexAnn spun gold during her time at Days.

He said that the casting director has an “eye for talent,” and AlexAnn was the perfect Joy. Fans of Joy shouldn’t worry. We have a sneaking suspicion she’ll be back to stir up trouble again.
