‘Alaskan Bush People’ Star Ami Brown’s Son Gives Update on Mom’s Hospitalization

Alaskan Bush People star Bear Brown is shedding light on mom Ami Brown‘s health following the news she was rushed to the hospital.

Last week, Bear and his sister, SnowBird, revealed their mom was taken to an emergency room and medevaced to a larger hospital after undergoing an evaluation related to chest pain and difficulty breathing.

At the time, Bear and SnowBird had limited information. The two could only tell fans that Ami was in the intensive care unit being treated for what looked like pneumonia, she had been “put under anesthesia” and had a breathing tube placed.

“Basically, her lungs are really bad,” SnowBird said.

Ami, 61, was diagnosed with lung cancer in 2017 and was told she only had a 3% chance of survival. She underwent chemotherapy and radiation shortly afterward and announced she was in remission about a year later. Ami also battled a bad case of pneumonia in March 2024, for which she was also hospitalized.

Fast forward a few days and Bear was given enough insight to warrant a “major mom update.”

“Mom is so strong,” Bear continued, “So everything is looking good, she’s healing up nicely.”

As for when Ami could be released, that day is also approaching.

“They do want to hold her for a week,” Bear explained. “Just to make sure everything sticks and that everything is good, but I just wanted to keep you all updated because I know you guys are worried—just as worried as we have been, and I really appreciate it. Thank you guys.”

Along with Bear and SnowBird, Ami is the mom of Rain BrownJoshua “Bam Bam” BrownMatt BrownGabriel Brown and Noah Brown, all of whom she shares with her late husband, Billy Brown.
