Former Counting On star Jill Duggar Dillard has just announced her husband, Derick Dillard’s, shocking career change. He had long been an attorney, licensed in both Arkansas and Oklahoma, but that is no longer. So, what is he up to now? Keep reading for all of the details as to what he is up to now.
Derick Dillard Makes A Drastic Change
Jill Duggar Dillard’s family has been in the spotlight recently, and it has not been a good thing. Her brother, Joseph Duggar, was accused of molesting a nine-year-old girl back in 2020. Additionally, his wife, Kendra, was also arrested, and this just adds to the poor family stigma. Jill’s brother, Josh, had previously been arrested for possessing child pornography and is serving over a decade behind bars. In her personal life, Jill is married to Derick Dillard, and they have three children, but have experienced two losses.
Derick has been a licensed attorney for many years, but now, it appears that he is changing his career. Per their family website, where the Dillards offer updates, they shared that Derick is joining the military. It seems that he had been chosen for Marine Corps Officer Candidate School (OCS) and is headed to Quantico, Virginia. This all began in March 2026, and they noted how they were shocked at how fast it all happened. Additionally, they shared a snap of him getting sworn in, with the goal of becoming a Marine Corps JAG.
Jill Duggar and her three children will soon head to Virginia, followed by Rhode Island, while he finishes training. The family has asked for prayers for Derick during his training, as well as Jill and the children, as they navigate life without him by their side.
An Exciting New Chapter
After Counting On fans learned what was going on, they were stunned but thrilled for Derick and Jill Duggar Dillard. They knew that this was an exciting new chapter for him and the whole family:
