Lydia Plath Says “It’s The Last Straw” — Family Drama Reaches Breaking Point 💔
The Wisemans Speak: Lydia and Zach Address Wedding Drama, Family Tension, and “Controlling” Narratives
TLC EXCLUSIVE: In a candid interview on the Revive Her podcast, Lydia and Zach Wiseman—stars of the reality show centered on their family—finally broke their silence regarding the intense family drama that overshadowed their wedding and the subsequent media scrutiny. The couple addressed accusations, strained relationships, and the deep-seated pain they believe fueled their family’s actions.

Refusing the Drama: Why Lydia Didn’t Watch the Show
Lydia revealed she refused to watch the wedding episodes of the show, explaining her stance on the televised conflicts.
“I don’t want to let anything cloud the moments that she remembers,” she stated.
Despite her older brother’s dramatic attempt to convince her not to marry Zach the night before the wedding, Lydia maintains she “was not a part of any of the drama.” While some critics suggest she is avoiding reliving traumatic moments, Lydia is determined to keep her memories untainted by the show’s narrative.
Zach, however, admitted that while they didn’t watch the episodes, they would sometimes read comments about what was said and then go back to watch specific clips to see the context for themselves.
The Source of the Attack: Ethan’s “Traumatic Marriage”
The couple spent considerable time discussing Lydia’s brother, Ethan, whose behavior, including accusations that Zach was lazy or even gay, was highly volatile around their wedding. Lydia offered a powerful explanation for Ethan’s actions:
“He’s gone through a lot of hurt and is projecting that on us, which isn’t right, but also is understandable.”
Lydia elaborated that Ethan was going through a divorce from a “very abusive marriage” and was projecting his pain onto them.
- A Contentious Claim: This assertion raised eyebrows, as the history of Ethan and Olivia’s separation has been complex and publicly debated. The interview notes that Lydia’s claim of abuse seems “very one-sided” and suggests she may be unaware of publicly released interviews and videos that paint a different picture.
Setting Boundaries: “We Just Tolerate Them”
When discussing the current state of their family relationships, the Wiseamans confirmed they are protecting their marriage by keeping their distance, despite only living about 45 minutes away from most relatives.
Zach admitted that when they do see the family, he “just tolerates them.” His deep-seated resentment stems from the way the family initially put him “through trials” instead of trying to get to know him.
Zach specifically challenged the family’s common refrain, “If Lydia is happy, they are happy,” calling it a “lazy way of getting to know him.”
“What if Lydia isn’t happy? Does that mean that you’re not going to hear his side of things?” Zach argued, emphasizing that his feelings and character were never considered important by the family.
Lydia Slams Mom’s “Controlling” Comments
Lydia directly addressed her mother’s comments on the show, which alleged that Zach was controlling over the wedding colors. Lydia called her mother’s narrative “very disappointing,” noting that her mother even got the colors wrong.
Lydia insisted the truth was the “complete opposite” and stated that her mother’s claim that Zach was controlling was “the last straw.” When asked if everything had been worked out with her mother, Lydia’s short answer was “No.”
The couple concluded the interview by emphasizing their focus on their marriage and not letting the media’s critique—which Lydia called the “hardest part of their marriage”—control their narrative.
