๐Ÿ’” Heartbreaking Farewell: My Big Fat Fabulous Life star Whitney Way Thore was seen in tears as she attended the funeral of her beloved father, Glenn Thore. Surrounded by close friends and family, Whitney struggled to hold back her emotions while saying a final goodbye to the man who had always been her greatest supporter. The emotional ceremony was filled with memories, laughter, and tears, as loved ones shared heartfelt stories about Glennโ€™s kindness and wisdom. Fans across the world sent their condolences, standing with Whitney as she faces one of the most difficult moments of her life.

THORE Mr. Glenn William Thore Sr., 83, of Winston-Salem passed from this life into the next peacefully on Sunday, Sept. 2, 2007, at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center, surrounded by his wife, children and their spouses, grandchildren and friends. Mr. Thore was born Feb. 26, 1924, in Stokes County to the late James Lafayette and Jessie Moorefield Thore. He grew up in the shadow of Sauratown Mountain and would return there often during the rest of the days of his life. He was an active member and supporter of Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church and in later years, Green Street United Methodist Church in Winston-Salem. Mr. Thore graduated from Nancy Reynolds High School in Stokes County and shortly thereafter joined the U.S. Navy. Mr. Thore’ s career life revolved around the printing and publishing industry where he worked for over 40 years in various capacities with much of that time being spent with Winston Printing Co. of Winston-Salem. Upon leaving Winston Printing Company, Mr. Thore started two publishing firms, Thore Graphic Consultants and Dot Enterprises and served as the owner and CEO of these until his retirement. Mr. Thore’ s military career was spent serving his country proudly during World War II in the U.S. Navy on a battle escort patrol ship with duty seen in the Atlantic Ocean along the eastern seaboard of the United States. Later in life, he became an accomplished and highly regarded oil painter and artist and enjoyed other pursuits such as fishing with friends and family with his greatest attention given to gardening, which became the passion of his life for many years. Glenn Thore was a friend to all and beloved by many. His humor, kindness and ability to overcome adversity are traits that will not be forgotten by those who knew him and are qualities that he passed from father to son and daughter, from one generation to the next. Mr. Thore was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 41 years, Dorothy Kurceski Thore; three brothers Jack, JT and James; and a sister, Maquita. Mr. Thore is survived by his wife, Clara Thore of the home; two sons; Glenn William Thore Jr. and wife Barbara of Greensboro and the Rev. Christopher C. Thore and wife Charlotte of Mooresville; two daughters, Karen T. Tolla and husband Richard of Winston-Salem and Kim Marie Thore of Winston-Salem; two stepsons, Will Miller and wife Stephanie of Davie County and James Dodge of Charlotte; six grandchildren, Bradley Gullette of Winston-Salem; Hunter Thore of New York, N.Y.; Whitney Thore of Greensboro; Alexis Thore of Huntersville; Tyler Thore of Mooresville; and Lucas Thore of Mooresville; two great-grandchildren, Adrianna and Jon Gullette; and his special caretaker and companion, Arthur Green. A private family internment service will take place before the memorial service, which will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 6, at Green Street United Methodist Church, 639 S. Green St., Winston-Salem, with the Rev. Kelly P. Carpenter and the Rev. Christopher C. Thore officiating. Family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday Sept. 5, at Hayworth Miller Funeral Home, Silas Creek Parkway, Winston-Salem. Memorials may be made to Green Street Church.
