John David and Abbie Duggar Announce Birth of Son, Charlie
In a “shocking update” to their fans, John David Duggar and Abbie Grace Burnett Duggar have confirmed the birth of their baby boy, named Charlie. The Counting On stars, who were due in early to mid-September, chose to keep the birth a secret for a while, only sharing their son with the world this past weekend via a family photo on Instagram.
The couple, now officially a family of four, posted, “We welcome little Charlie into the world last month and have been soaking up newborn snuggles ever since. We are so thankful to God for this precious gift.” They tagged their photographer in the post. While they did not reveal Charlie’s exact birth date or weight, the mention of “soaking up newborn snuggles ever since” last month suggests he may have been born earlier than his expected mid-September due date, possibly in early September, about two weeks after Abbie’s baby shower.
Though no close-up photos were shared, Charlie appears to have blonde hair, similar to his older sister, Gracie.
A Streak of Boys for the Duggar Family
Charlie’s arrival adds to the growing number of Duggar grandbabies and continues a recent “streak” of boys born into the family:
- Jedidiah Duggar and Katelyn Nakatsu welcomed their son, Truett, in May.
- Jill Duggar and Derick Dillard welcomed their third son, Frederick, in July.
- Charlie is the third boy born this year.
- Currently, Jeremiah Duggar and Hannah Wissmann are the only pregnant Duggar couple, expecting their first child. If they have a boy, it would be the fourth consecutive male addition, continuing the streak.
Despite the Duggar family no longer being on television, they maintain a large fanbase, with many siblings using social media to share updates on their lives, while others prefer a more private existence.
