Why did Matt and Caryn call off their wedding? The reason will break your heart. đ
LITTLE People, Big World stars Matt Roloff and Caryn Chandler will not be tying the knot anytime soon as their wedding is âindefinitely delayed,â according to a source.
Matt proposed to Caryn in April 2023 after six years together, and the pair were said to be planning an intimate ceremony.
Caryn, 53, showed off her ring in an exclusive interview with People, which appeared to be a solitary diamond sitting on a double band surrounded by more small stones.
The U.S. Sun previously reported they were looking to make it official in May this year, but months later they are still no closer to setting a date for the big day.
A source told The U.S. Sun, âCaryn and Mattâs wedding was supposed to be set for May, but it is currently delayed with no scheduled date other than âpossibly at end of the year.â
âThey have been discussing getting married in Hawaii now, but they are still looking at ideas and itâs still in the very early planning stages.
âThey decided to delay it because Mattâs mom is needing lots of extra care right now, sheâs getting older.
âPumpkin season is also coming up and they simply havenât had enough time to prepare for a wedding this year.â
Matt has always been close to his parents and lost his father Ronald, 84, in 2022, revealing on social media that he suddenly fell ill and passed away within a short six-week period.
The LPBW patriarch is now keen to spend more time with his elderly mom Peggy, who used to live in California before his dadâs death.
âWEDDING DISAGREEMENTSâ
In May, Matt shared a photograph with her on Instagram, writing, âHappy Motherâs day to my mother Huny (Peggy). Some of you might know she recently relocated back to Oregon to be closer to the Farm and family. We love having her so close to everybody and most of the grands.â
During the LPBW Season 25 finale, Matt and Caryn talked about their future wedding and it was revealed they had been disagreeing a lot over how to make their day happen.
Caryn mentioned she would like to have a small, intimate wedding, and Matt replied, âMaybe,â hinting he would rather have more family and friends at the wedding.
Matt, 62, then suggested they could fly to their wedding by helicopter and have it at Roloff Farms, saying they could wave to all their friends and family as they came down.
The location is where Mattâs ex-wife Amy tied the knot with her partner Chris Marek in 2021.
Caryn quickly brushed off the idea saying she doesnât like helicopters because she gets motion sickness.
She added that she doesnât want to get married on the farm because of his and Amyâs history and instead wants to start new traditions.
Despite their differing opinions, it seems the couple is still keen to get married and Matt also mentioned he was lifting weights to carry Caryn over the threshold.
Speaking to People, Matt said, âAfter six wonderful years together, I asked Caryn to marry me and she said yes!
âOur plan is to enjoy our engagement and we are looking forward to a simple but elegant wedding in 2024.â
Talking about the proposal, Carynâs son Connor previously said Matt was set to get his mom a commitment ring.
âHe told her, she was unaware of the commitment ring, obviously, and during the time he was getting that ring, he made the decision that he wants to marry her,â he said.
âI wasnât there, but she said that they were in the backyard, itâs their favorite spot.
âThey go out there every night when theyâre in Arizona. And he proposed right then and there. It was just them.â
It was previously thought the couple could marry in Arizona or even Mexico, but they still havenât decided.
Meanwhile, there could be some tension at the wedding as many of the family members have been feuding on and off the show.
FAMILY TENSION
Mattâs relationship with his son Zach, 33, is still not great after their feud over the sale of Roloff Farms.
He turned down his offer to buy a parcel of the land, and Zach and his wife Tori, 33, have since moved miles away to Washington and continue to keep their distance.
In an episode of their Raising Heights podcast in May, Zach said his relationship with his father was still ânot greatâ after their issues played out on the reality show.
They have been discussing getting married in Hawaii now, but they are still looking at ideas and itâs still in the very early planning stages.

âItâs not like, existent, I guess,â Zach said. âThe filming ended, you kind of just give yourself some space and then the show airs six months later [and] it kind of brings up some old wounds.â
âDust is settled, but like, nothingâs been fixed or anything,â Zach continued. âStuff comes out on social media and you realize that people are thinking the same thing and itâs kind of a bummer because then itâs like, âOh I thought we were kind of evening out a little bit.’â
He claimed the people involved [Matt and Caryn] âare still in denialâ and they believe they âdidnât do anything wrong.â
âItâs a narcissism, so no, itâs not great,â he added. âBut I donât know, more time might heal.â
