A Scare Close to Home: My Momās Battle with Pneumonia
Hey everyone, Rain Brown here. I know itās been a whileāsorry for the silence. Lifeās been a little overwhelming, and I wanted to pop in with an important update, especially about my mom.
About a week ago, she got really sick. At first, we werenāt sure what was wrong. She tried to rest it off, but her condition kept getting worse. Because she has emphysema and COPD, weāre always extra cautious when she falls ill. Eventually, my siblings took her to the hospital since I donāt have a car at the moment and couldn’t be there in person.
After several tests, the doctors diagnosed her with severe acute viral pneumonia. Her oxygen levels were dangerously low, and they were initially worried it could be cancer-related, but thankfully, scans came back clear. It was a scary moment for all of us. She was immediately put on oxygen and given intravenous antibiotics. There were a few heart-related concerns as wellāthey couldnāt give her pain medication because her heart rate was too low.
It was a terrifying week and a half. I didnāt update anyone sooner because we didnāt have all the facts, and honestly, I was too overwhelmed. But now I can say with reliefāsheās home, recovering, and doing much better.

Healing at Home: Small Steps, Big Wins
After about a week in the hospital, Mom was discharged with portable oxygen and a continued round of antibiotics. Sheās currently staying with my brother Noah, so sheās in good hands. Sheās been resting, regaining her strength, and eating wellālittle wins that mean everything right now.
Sheās still using a nasal oxygen cannula, but the fact that sheās smiling, eating, and showing signs of energy again is a huge relief. And yes, sheās already flashing her signature peace signāclassic Mom.
I canāt thank the hospital staff enough, especially Nurse Rebecca, who was incredibly kind and patient. And to all of you who prayed or sent positive energyāthank you from the bottom of my heart. I truly believe your support made a difference.

Ā A Reminder, a Thank You, and Whatās Next
This experience has been a wake-up call. Pleaseāif youāre sick, stay home. Even if itās ājust a cold,ā it can be devastating for someone with a compromised immune system. Social distancing, masks, hand washingāit all still matters. I know weāre “past” the pandemic, but viruses donāt follow our timelines.
Also, Iāve got some exciting stuff coming up! Iāve been working on a new podcast episode (stay tunedāitās a good one), and there are a few other creative projects in the works that I can’t wait to share with you all soon.
To everyone in the Wolf Packāthank you for your patience, your love, and your prayers. Itās been a rollercoaster, but weāre coming out the other side stronger. Momās recovering. Iām okay. Weāre survivingāand more than that, weāre living.
