Tammy Slaton continues dating a woman – what’s behind the loss of her fiance that changed her
Tammy Slaton’s Heartfelt Confession: A New Chapter and a Surprising Family Revelation
Tammy Slaton, the beloved star of 1000-Lb. Sisters, has finally pulled back the curtain on a secret she’s been holding close to her heart: a new relationship with a woman named Andrea. Her candid confession, following the tragic loss of her husband, sparked a moment of raw emotion and unexpected understanding within her family.
For months, Tammy, 38, had been discreetly dating Andrea, navigating her new romance away from the watchful eyes of her family. Her hesitation stemmed from a misconception, as she nervously admitted to her older sisters, Misty and Amanda, “I know y’all don’t prefer people that are, you know, gay.”

A Misconception Met with Unconditional Love
Tammy quickly clarified that she felt her family only “tolerated” gay relationships, a sentiment that immediately caught Amanda off guard. “I’m really not sure why Tammy feels like we would have a problem with her dating a female,” Amanda shared in a confessional, clearly surprised. “I have a son that’s gay. I don’t care as long as she treats you right. So for her to pop off and say, โWell I know yโall probably donโt agree with me dating a woman,โ I mean I was completely taken aback by it, to be honest. It really surprised me.”
Both Amanda and Misty were quick to reassure Tammy, emphasizing that her happiness and well-being were their top priorities. “It don’t matter to me,” Misty stated plainly. Amanda echoed the sentiment, declaring, “That’s your sexuality, that does not define who you are as a person.”

A Twist No One Saw Coming
In a truly heartwarming turn, Tammy’s sisters then revealed their own surprising perspective: they were actually more surprised when she married a man! Both Misty and Amanda confessed they had always envisioned Tammy ending up with a woman.
“If she makes you happy… that’s all we want for each other is just to be happy. That’s all,” Amanda said, her voice full of warmth. She also encouraged Tammy not to settle, urging her to “Don’t stop until you find exactly what you’re looking for.”
Healing and New Beginnings
Tammy’s decision to keep her relationship a secret was deeply rooted in her past experiences and her anticipation of family opinions. “I think I want to approach this relationship different than I have in the past, so I haven’t told my family because my family’s gonna have something to say about it,” she had previously explained, humorously adding, “I think my family probably has more opinions than the world has assholes because they be farting so much.”
This new chapter marks a significant step for Tammy, her first relationship since the heartbreaking death of her husband, Caleb Willingham. Tammy and Caleb met and fell in love at a rehabilitation center, marrying in November 2022. Tragically, Caleb passed away just seven months later at the age of 40.
Following Caleb’s death, Tammy publicly came out as pansexual, and later expressed her desire to move forward without being with men. Her journey of self-discovery continues, and with the unwavering support of her sisters, it seems Tammy is embracing her authentic self and finding happiness on her own terms.
