Tears, heartbreak, and a raw confession no one saw coming. In a deeply emotional tribute, 19 Kids and Counting star Joanna Duggar Forsyth opened up about the personal tragedy that forever changed her family — the stillbirth of her daughter Annabelle Elise Forsyth. On July 6, Joanna took to Instagram to honor what would have been Annabelle’s sixth birthday. In a rare and candid moment, she shared a series of poignant photos and memories, offering fans a glimpse into her journey through grief, love, and healing.

“Happy Heavenly 6th Birthday, Annabelle Elise”

Joanna’s post included ultrasound images, tender hospital photos, and a black-and-white picture of her and husband Austin Forsyth cradling their tiny daughter, surrounded by family. Annabelle was delivered stillborn at 20 weeks gestation in July 2019, weighing just 4.8 oz and measuring 7 inches long.

“Happy heavenly 6th birthday, Annabelle Elise,” Joanna wrote. “You would be turning six this year. We still talk about you. We still cry. And we still dream about what life would be like if you were here.”

She also shared a photo of Annabelle’s tiny footprints, along with a touching shot of a white rose laid atop a memory box containing a baby blanket, keepsakes, and tokens of her short but significant life.

A Name Filled With Meaning

Joanna reflected on the significance of her daughter’s name:

  • Annabelle means “God has favored me”

  • Elise means “God satisfies”

These meanings held special comfort for the couple in the aftermath of their loss, especially as they leaned on faith during their darkest moments.

A Mother’s Grief, A Community’s Compassion

After the original announcement in 2019, Joanna and Austin shared:

“We only had her for 20 weeks, but we’re so thankful the Lord gave her to us for that short time. She will be in our hearts forever.”

This year’s tribute reignited support from fans and family alike. Joanna’s sister Jill Duggar Dillard commented, “Annabelle is so loved and missed.” Friends like Carlin Bates from Bringing Up Bates were recognized for their emotional and logistical support during the difficult hospital photo session.Thousands of fans filled the comment section with shared stories of loss, prayers, and messages of empathy. For many, Joanna’s courage gave voice to their own unspoken grief.

“Thank you for sharing your pain. We lost our baby at 19 weeks and this brought me to tears. You made me feel less alone.”

A Legacy of Love

Joanna’s tribute wasn’t just about sorrow — it was also about resilience, faith, and the enduring power of love.Though she and Austin have since welcomed three beautiful children — Gideon, Evelyn, and Gunner — Joanna made it clear that Annabelle’s place in their family is irreplaceable.

“Each of our children is a blessing, and none can replace another. Annabelle is deeply loved, and always will be.”

Over the years, the Forsyth family has quietly honored Annabelle through annual birthday gatherings, candlelight remembrances, and a special memory space in their home — ways of keeping her spirit alive while teaching their children about love and loss.
