Reality TV star Niles Valentine opened up about dating with autism in an episode in November. During his confessional, he said that Matilda had just started to understand how autism hugely affects him. He added that honesty is one of his biggest challenges since it gets complicated.
Niles often doesn’t know what to do, as taking action is difficult. He explained that his fights with Matilda are just an example of how tough it is to begin a relationship with his condition. Lastly, he added, “It’s not easy for me. It just isn’t.” Many viewers noticed his overwhelming nature and how his autism affected his ability to manage all the preparations. He clearly struggles to make any decisions.

TLC star Niles Valentine worked as a peer advocate before visiting Matilda Nti in Ghana. While on his trip, he expressed concern about who would take over his “assistive technology” classes. According to his LinkedIn profile, he worked as an Information Technology and Living Specialist from November 2022 to June 2024.
Despite loving his previous job, Niles had to look for another one since he was fired from it. He wanted to settle for a job with better pay and benefits. He even gave an interview for a new job that could work in his favor, as he hoped for the best. Hence, the reality star is currently working at the Alabama Department of Mental Health as an Executive Director from January 2024.
Hopefully, Niles went back to America after cracking the job interview. Fans will remember how he was hiding his job termination from Matilda. His financial insecurity was the biggest hurdle preventing him from marrying her. His termination letter began with the words, “wasn’t working out.” He didn’t expect to lose his job when he needed money for the wedding and related ceremonies.
Niles’ bank account only had $109, which wasn’t sufficient to pay 4700 Ghanaian cedis for the bride’s price. Moreover, he had to buy gifts for the villagers. While he took a loan from Mr. Arc, he felt embarrassed when Mr. Arc asked how an American man had no money.
