Adam and Danielle Busby of OutDaughtered fame recently opened up about a recent trip to the doctor’s office for their daughter Hazel that didn’t go quite as expected. The TLC stars shared their story during an episode of their podcast. As fans tuned in, many shared mixed reactions on what they felt happened.

OutDaughtered‘s Adam & Danielle Busby Shared They Encountered Trouble During A Checkup For Hazel

Viewers were introduced to the Busby family through the TLC series, OutDaughtered. The family is made up of parents Adam and Danielle Busby and their six daughters. This includes a set of quintuplets, the only known group of American all-girl quints.

The family’s TLC series premiered in 2016 and wrapped up its tenth season in 2024. In addition, fans have continued to follow the family’s story through the More Than Reality podcast series.

During a recent episode of their podcast series, Adam and Danielle discussed a recent visit to the doctor that didn’t go as expected. Noting they were “kicked out” in the title, a caption summarized the story, reading, “We showed up for Hazel’s routine eye appointment… and walked out without being seen.”

As shared in the video, Danielle appeared at a scheduled doctor’s appointment for her daughter Hazel during her “ongoing journey with congenital nystagmus.” At the time, Danielle was taken aside, saying that the office wanted to discuss something with her.

Danielle was told “the doctor doesn’t want us as a patient because of the public nature of our family,” despite claiming that they wouldn’t share anyone’s names or identify the business. Adam was especially caught off guard by this, noting, “Hazel’s gone there multiple times a year for, I don’t know how many, years.”

Adam & Danielle Somewhat Differed On How They Should Address The Story

“And then all of a sudden, out of the blue. Like we haven’t done anything new we haven’t seen her since the last checkup, which was six plus months ago.”

Something that especially upset the couple was that they didn’t have this conversation over the phone, causing the family to waste their time. Danielle even noted that the appointment was confirmed beforehand.

Adam, identifying the business as “Coastal Eye Associates in Webster, Texas,” also shared, If you want to have a conversation, you don’t want to do business with us, that’s fine.”

Adam continued, “Let us know ahead of time before confirming an appointment, having a mom and four kids drive up there, and then pretty much kick them out of the building because you don’t feel comfortable because we have a public family. It’s so ridiculous.”

Danielle also noted that it was hard switching doctors and that they wanted a specialist. However, she also felt that the podcast wasn’t about “blasting” people, adding, “I don’t think it’s appropriate for you to necessarily put the name of the company out there.”

Danielle noted that she told her daughters, “Let’s go, girls. They no longer want to see the Busbys.” At this point, she shared that they left the office.

Fans Also Shared A Few Mixed Reactions To What Happened

Taking to the comments, fans shared mixed views over the story. Some felt that the office made it clear early on that they were uncomfortable with filming. As one fan noted, “Assuming this is the same ophthalmologist they’d started taking Hazel to at the end of the show, it’s no secret that they never wanted them filming in there.”

Another similarly noted, “Well, them showing the office I imagine has crazies lurking around waiting to see the family and people reaching out to staff. And they were probably worried about exact instances like this!!!”

Other fans were more sympathetic towards the family and felt the office wasn’t acting professionally. A few also shared their sympathy with Hazel in particular. Some comments included:
