Jill dugger’s husband Derek Dillard is setting the record straight about his recent interaction with his father-in-law Jim Bob Dugger over Christmas eyebrows were raised after Jill’s brother James Dugger posted a series of picks to Instagram of the family’s Christmas celebrations among the festive shots was one that showed Derek and Jill Jim Bob’s estranged daughter sitting on a couch and allegedly mingling with the family patriarch but while the moment may look like all is copasetic between them Derrick takes to Instagram to clarify where he stands with Jim Bob writing in a comment underneath post about the story just so people know Jim Bob approached me while we were there on Christmas Day for about 5 minutes and I do not respect him I don’t think that is considered mingling there were over 100 people the house is 8,000 square ft and Santa Claus was there so this isn’t your typical intimate family gathering he adds I have spoken with him less than 10 minutes since the last time we were at that house which was over a year ago we are trying to be civil for the sake of our family but that doesn’t mean everything is all hunky dory and it sure doesn’t mean that I’m not going to when people try to warp reality for their own purposes back in November Jill gave an update on where she stands with her parents Jim Bob and Michelle Dugger after leaving the family’s reality show in 2017 and distancing herself from their religion during a Q&A on her Instagram a follower asked Jill how her relationship is with her parents to which the 19 kids en counting Alum responded complicated Jill went on to explain I feel like we are in a rebuilding phase now with healthy boundaries still in place we try to hang out whenever it works well and we have the B bandwidth to navigate things back in 2023 Jill released her Memoir counting the cost which detailed her clash with Jim Bob about compensation from the show and the aftermath of her brother Josh dugger’s molestation scandal at the time of the Memoirs publication Jim Bob and Michelle did not respond to enu request for comment however they did share a statement with People magazine saying in part as with any family few things are more painful than conflicts or problems among those you love we’ve aimed to deal honorably with our children our finances and our other ende as the future unfolds we will continue to love our family pray for them and enjoy every moment gifted to us to be parents and grandparents
