The Duggar and Bates families are pretty close. The Duggars sent prayers to Erin Bates Paine during her recent medical emergency. The mom of six ended up in the ICU after the birth of her seventh child. She developed a UTI and a kidney infection that led to sepsis, which can be fatal.

The situation was touch-and-go, but Erin pulled through and was recently sent home with her newborn baby, Henry. Jinger Duggar shared an update on her friend’s ‘miracle’ condition. How is Erin doing now?

Jinger Duggar Gives ‘Miracle’ Update On Friend Erin Bates’ Condition

At the time of her hospital release, Erin Bates hadn’t regained the function of her right leg. She left the hospital in a wheelchair. She has a long road ahead of her to recover.

Erin’s friend, Jinger Duggar, spoke out about the situation on the podcast she hosts with her husband, Jeremy Vuolo. Jinger called the recovery a ‘miracle.’

“I think that Erin seems to be doing a little bit better. I think that they’re holding onto hope now as she’s starting her road to recovery, and so that’s just an absolute miracle and encouraging to see,” Jinger shared.

What Touched Her The Most About Erin’s Recovery

The Bates family has rallied around Erin Bates Paine, her husband, and seven kids. Erin’s siblings took turns watching the other kids while their mom and newborn brother was in the hospital.

Now that Erin is home, her six children are pitching in to help around the house and with baby Henry. Chad Paine shared a letter that their daughter, Brooklyn, 9, wrote to her mom while she was in the hospital.

“All their relatives [are] just surrounding them and helping out in this time. I think the thing that touched me the most was a letter that their daughter [Brooklyn] wrote to Erin when she was there at the hospital,” Jinger said about the sweet gesture.

She praised the Bates family for instilling a deep religious faith in their kids. “When you pour into your kids or you say things, you teach them the word of God, and then that reality they’re going to have to live by that in hard times comes out,” Jinger said.

She added, “She’s pretty young, and that theology of knowing that, ‘In suffering, in good times and in bad that God allows all things to work together for good to those who love him and those who are called according to his purpose.’ That’s [from] Romans 8:28.”
