Jill Duggar Dillard and Husband Derick Welcome Baby Boy, Frederick Michael
Reality TV star and former Counting On alum Jill Duggar Dillard has joyfully welcomed her third child, a baby boy named Frederick “Freddie” Michael Dillard, with husband Derick Dillard.
Freddie arrived on July 7th via a planned cesarean section, weighing 7 pounds, 6 ounces and measuring 20 inches long. The baby boy’s birth comes as a blessing after the couple suffered a miscarriage last year, making his arrival all the more meaningful.
According to a heartfelt post on the couple’s family blog, both Jill, 31, and baby Freddie are healthy and spending precious time bonding in the hospital.
“Frederick means ‘peaceful ruler,’ and Michael means ‘gift from God,’” the Dillards explained, adding that the name is a tribute to Derick’s late father, Rick. The name “Frederick” also carries a personal twist: it’s a play on Derick’s own name — with “Free” added to the front to symbolize freedom and legacy.
Interestingly, baby Freddie’s birthday is just one day before his older brother Samuel’s, who was born on July 8, 2017. The couple also shares another son, Israel David, making Freddie the youngest of three.
“We were thrilled to find a name that honored Derick’s father and also had such beautiful meaning,” Jill wrote.
The family first shared they were expecting a boy back in March, and while Freddie’s due date was originally set for later in July, he made his debut a bit early — but safely and joyfully.
As the Dillard family grows, fans and followers from Jill’s TLC days continue to celebrate her journey — one filled with resilience, love, and new beginnings.
